The purpose of the Ellie Guay Endowed Fund is to provide ongoing unrestricted funding for the Smith-Lemli-Opitz Foundation.

Ellie Guay is a bright, joyful little girl whose infectious smile and laughter have touched everyone who knows her. Diagnosed with Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome (SLOS) shortly after birth, Ellie has made meaningful progress through early intervention therapies supporting her development.

Before Ellie was born, her parents, Elaine and Casey, learned they were both carriers of SLOS. While the diagnosis was unexpected, they have been committed to supporting Ellie every step of the way and embracing all that she brings to their lives.

Through the Smith-Lemli-Opitz Foundation, the Guay family found connection, resources, and hope. They have connected with other families and participated in important research efforts, including the natural history study at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

In honor of Ellie, this endowed fund was established to support the Foundation’s mission by advancing research, raising awareness, and sustaining programs that serve families affected by SLOS.

The Guay family is deeply grateful for the support of their community, including a generous contribution from MacDonald-Miller Facility Solutions through its Giving Fund, which helped establish this endowment.

With continued support, this fund will create a lasting impact by helping families feel less alone, supporting scientific progress, and bringing hope to those affected by SLOS for years to come.
